We first define the requirement and the available reference.
A complete production specification is not required for the initial review.
The objective is not to assume that the requirement is manufacturable. It is to identify the next useful engineering step before production is considered.
STARTING INFORMATION
Different projects can start from different references.
The first review uses the most reliable information already available for the project.
Can provide component geometry, critical features and available dimensional information.
Where complete drawing data is unavailable, a physical component can provide the starting reference.
The project can begin by defining what the component is expected to do within the application.
Surrounding equipment, working direction and component interface help define the requirement.
TECHNICAL EVALUATION
What needs to be established before the project moves forward?
01 / Function & context
What must the component do, where will it operate and how does it relate to the surrounding system?
02 / Existing reference
Which drawings, components, samples, photographs, dimensions or existing specifications provide reliable reference information?
03 / Manufacturability requirements
Which geometry, material, thickness, perforated area or interface requirements need clarification?
04 / Appropriate next step
Does the project require additional information, technical comparison, a test study or further production review?
FIRST REVIEW OUTCOME
The first review defines the next technical step.
A technical review is not an automatic production approval. Depending on the information and requirement, the project may follow different paths.
The project can continue into the relevant manufacturability and production evaluation.
Missing dimensions, material information, application details or component references are clarified before proceeding.
Where useful, a test perforation or technical sample study may be considered before progressing to the complete component.
If the current requirement is not suitable to progress, the scope can be revised or the project may stop at the evaluation stage.
